Practical advice that gets results

Straight-talking guidance from our recruitment team — built from thousands of real placements.

CV Tips

CV Tips

  • Keep it to two pages — recruiters skim, so lead with your most recent and relevant experience.
  • Start each bullet with an action verb and add numbers wherever you can: 'Handled 60+ customer queries a day' beats 'answered calls'.
  • Tailor your CV to each role — mirror the key words in the job description where they genuinely apply.
  • Put your strongest selling points in the top third of the first page.
  • Use a clean, consistent layout with one professional font — no photos, tables or graphics that confuse applicant tracking systems.
  • Proofread it twice, then ask someone else to read it. Typos cost interviews.

Cover Letter Tips

Cover Letter Tips

  • Open with why this role at this company — not a generic 'I am writing to apply'.
  • Pick two or three achievements that map directly to what the advert asks for.
  • Keep it under one page; three short paragraphs is usually enough.
  • Show you've done your homework: mention something specific about the company.
  • End with a confident, courteous call to action — 'I would welcome the chance to discuss the role further'.
  • Address it to a named person whenever you can find one.

Interview Tips

Interview Tips

  • Research the company, the role and your interviewers before the day.
  • Prepare STAR answers (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for the most likely competency questions.
  • Have two or three thoughtful questions ready to ask — it shows genuine interest.
  • Plan your journey, log-in details and outfit the night before; arrive or join ten minutes early.
  • Answer the question asked, not the one you wish they'd asked — pause and think if you need to.
  • Follow up with a short thank-you email within 24 hours.
